The Township of Ramara has received notice today (August 1, 2024) from the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit confirming a blue - green algae bloom impacting the north shoreline of Lake St. John.
It is important to be cautious around blue-green algae, as it can produce toxins harmful to humans and animals. Avoid using water from affected areas for drinking or cooking, keep pets and livestock away from the water, and be cautious when eating fish caught in these areas.
